The Whole Outside of the Boat

Exterior detailing covers every surface the weather touches: the hull sides above the waterline, the topsides and deck, non-skid texture, stainless rails and hardware, rubrails, and the brightwork that frames it all. On Lake Michigan those surfaces face relentless sun, spray and dock grime, and they show neglect faster than anything else on the boat.

We treat the exterior as a sequence rather than a single pass: a marine wash to strip salt film and harbor scum, decontamination to pull bonded fallout from the gelcoat, machine correction where oxidation or swirl has set in, and a protective layer to finish.

Hull and Topsides

The hull sides and topsides are where gloss reads most, so they get the most attention. Depending on condition we polish or fully correct the gelcoat, then seal with wax, sealant or a ceramic coating. Waterline staining and scum lines are treated as part of the wash.

Non-Skid, Stainless and Brightwork

Non-skid texture traps dirt and is easy to do badly. We clean it so it comes up bright without destroying the grip you rely on underfoot. Stainless rails, cleats and stanchions are polished and protected, and teak or other brightwork is cleaned and brightened so the deck looks intentional from bow to transom, port and starboard.

Built Around Lake Conditions

Freshwater spotting, UV fade and the fine grit that blows across a working harbor all attack the exterior differently than saltwater does, and we tailor the products and protection accordingly. The result is a boat that looks sharp from the dock and stays that way longer because the right barrier is in place.

One Pass, Every Surface

The value of a full exterior detail is that nothing is left out of step. It is easy to wax a hull and ignore the dull stainless, or polish the topsides and leave the non-skid gray, and the mismatched result reads as half-finished. We bring every exterior surface up together so the boat looks deliberate and complete from any angle on the dock.

That consistency also makes the protection last. When the whole exterior is clean and sealed at once, there are no neglected corners quietly oxidizing and spreading. The boat starts the next stretch of the season from a uniform baseline, which is exactly what keeps future details lighter and faster.
