Updated for the 2026 season.
Wilmette Harbor sits at the mouth of the canal beside the village's landmark shoreline, home to the Sheridan Shore Yacht Club and a fleet that leans heavily toward sailboats alongside a good number of powerboats. It is a tight, well-loved harbor with an engaged boating community, and we detail throughout it dockside: no hauling, no relocating, just the work done where your boat is berthed.
Sailboats bring their own detailing demands, and we are comfortable with them: gelcoat topsides and coachroof to correct and protect, plenty of stainless and brightwork, non-skid decks that trap grime, and cockpits that need careful interior work. Powerboats at Wilmette get the same complete treatment.
A full detail here means washing and decontaminating the gelcoat, machine polishing or staged oxidation removal to restore gloss, and sealing with wax, sealant or ceramic coating. We clean non-skid decks without destroying their grip, polish stainless rails, stanchions and hardware, and clean and brighten teak toe rails and trim so the brightwork glows.
Wilmette cockpits and cabins get vinyl shampooing and conditioning, mildew removal from seams, and careful cleaning of glass and isinglass enclosures with products that will not haze them. On sailboats we pay attention to the cabin spaces where damp lake air leaves a musty edge if it is left unaddressed.
Even tucked into a sheltered harbor, Wilmette boats face Lake Michigan's strong UV and mineral-heavy freshwater, which fade and spot unprotected gelcoat over a season. Keeping a fresh layer of protection on the finish is the key to easy upkeep, and a sailboat's large expanse of topside and deck especially benefits from a durable coating.
As local operators we get to know the Wilmette fleet and keep boats on a seasonal schedule that fits the sailing calendar: ready for spring launch, maintained through summer, and detailed again before the masts come down and the boats go away for winter.
Whether you race out of Sheridan Shore or just cruise the shoreline on calm evenings, a clean, protected boat is more pleasant to sail and easier to keep. Tell us your berth and what your boat needs, and we will work it into our north-shore schedule around your time on the water, along with our regular stops in Evanston and Winnetka.
