Belmont Harbor, tucked into the Lakeview shoreline, is one of Chicago's larger and most established harbors, with a strong sailing tradition and a fleet that runs from racing sailboats to cruisers and powerboats. It is a lively harbor with deep roots in the local boating community, and we detail throughout it dockside, meeting boats right at their slips and moorings.

The harbor's big sailing contingent shapes a lot of our work here. Sailboats carry expansive gelcoat topsides and coachroofs, generous brightwork, plenty of stainless, and non-skid decks that hold onto grime, all of which we handle as a matter of routine.

Topsides and Decks

A full Belmont detail starts with a marine wash and decontamination, moves through machine polishing or staged oxidation removal to restore the gelcoat, and finishes with wax, sealant or a ceramic coating. We clean non-skid decks so they grip as they should without going dull, and bring the topsides up to an even, deep gloss.

Brightwork, Stainless and Cabins

Teak toe rails, cap rails and trim are cleaned and brightened, stainless rails, stanchions and hardware are polished and protected, and cabins and cockpits get vinyl cleaning, conditioning and mildew removal. On the sailboats especially we pay attention to the below-deck spaces where lake damp leaves a musty edge.

Local Knowledge, Seasonal Care

As local operators we know the Belmont fleet and the rhythm of its season, and we schedule around launch, racing and haul-out so the boat is ready when it matters. The same crew returns, learning each vessel and keeping its finish on track rather than treating every visit as a fresh start.

Even in a busy harbor, Lake Michigan's UV and mineral-rich freshwater steadily fade and spot unprotected gelcoat. Keeping fresh protection on the finish, and a durable coating on a sailboat's large topside area in particular, is what keeps a Belmont boat looking its best through the whole season.
